Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease, genetics is through the inclusion of gluten proteins triggered (sticky in wheat, barley, rye, spelling, etc..) The body responds by attacking the small intestine and destruction of the villi and the intestinal wall. The villi are unable to produce enzymes for digestion and the intestinal wall is damaged, you get the double whammy of enzyme and reduces the loss of the surface of the intestine to absorb nutrients. 1 out of 150-300 people with this disease, most are undiagnosed.

IBS is basically a spastic colon. It is primarily through the elimination of other possibilities, such as celiac disease, food intolerance (lactose, soy, etc.), gastroparesis, disorders of the thyroid diagnosed, colitis (including all forms of collagen and allergies IBD) Crohn's eating, etc.

PS person of response, with the grain well celiac disease. It has gluten, but not the kind that causes an autoimmune response. His friend, Mollie has a different position away with corn, which is not related to celiac disease as food allergy. If the allergy is needed to determine the severity, and you learn to use your EpiPen in an emergency.

Celiac disease is OK if you do not absorb certain foods. In the example, my friend Mollie has celiac and can not handle, wheat and corn, and many foods, but it is an extreme case. Another friend, Michaela, but may not contain gluten processing. Thus, there are differences in symptoms
